I always prefer to vote at the polls because I like to join my fellow citizens in person to exercise this right. That we can do so without violence, even now, is moving to me.
I just retired as a poll warden. Having helped to process both many votes cast at the polls and many mailed in, I can testify that the tabulation process is meticulous in the extreme. Every ballot, and I mean every ballot of the thousands, is checked against a list of legitimate voters, and then checked again.
I don't understand, really, why some people cannot be bothered to take the time to vote. Every vote matters in the moral universe. And think about those who struggled so that you would have the right to do so. As recently as when my mother was born, no woman was allowed to vote in federal elections, simply because of her sex. I'm not giving up my shot!
