We absolutely agree with you about the treasures in our own backyard. We kayak on fully lake and long pond in royalston. When you have another day, drive to the end of 122 past petersham, make a left on 202 and take a left into new Salem center, you will feel like you have been transported back to rhe 18th century. And check out the music and theater at the 1794 meetinghouse there till the end of August. $10-15 a ticket for amazing performances that would be 5 times that for the same performers elsewhere. Example, we saw Samantha Farrell (folksinger discovered by dave Matthews) for $10. She is a local from orange. The next week she played in Somerville for $50/ticket.
