In reply to Patricia Bizzell. Agreed. TV news is appalling on the subject, because you can't explain a topic this complex in soundbites, so everything is boiled down to dueling quotes and horse race journalism rather than thoughtful analysis. I learn more from the Daily Show than any other report!

Like you, Ev, I applaud the Supreme Court’s decision and hope we can all move on to implement it with whatever improvements are needed. But I am not sanguine. In an election year, the Republicans are unlikely to stop their campaign of misinformation about the law. But I fault our public press even more. Take a look at the evening news. You won’t find any lead story about any significant issue facing our country or any important international development. No, it will all be about the toddler who got lost at the beach or a drunken car crash. Not that I don’t care about toddlers. But we need the press to inform us about important civic matters. I just saw a new HBO series, “The Newsroom,” that makes this point in a dramatic and entertaining way. Check it out!
