In reply to <a href="https://livingwithscleroderma.com/the-white-glove-test/#comment-1423">Claudia</a>.

You can find them here, through Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Archival-Methods-Cotton-Gloves-Package/dp/B0036W9XUC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1377028260&sr=8-2&keywords=archival+white+cotton+gloves.

I hope this helps! The link, above, is for the small size, but you can search for large size, as well. I find that the gloves stretch a lot with wear. I rewash them in a lingerie bag in my washing machine and air dry them so they don't shrink.

I can't speak to the cause of your skin sensitivity. Scleroderma is just one possible cause. I encourage you to get a physician's assessment. But these thin white cotton gloves do help, and you can use them with smart phones or mouse pads.

What is the site of those archival cotton gloves. I have a pair of "work gloves" that are thin with lycra, but can't use mouse pad. have been able to use phone slowly. Is this finger skin thing a sign of scleroderma or is it just psoriasis?

I guess it's true that necessity is the mother of invention. I still have a couple of pair of white kid gloves from who knows how long ago. I remember my grandmother never going out without her gloves on. She was an elegant New York lady. As always Evie, love reading your weekly posts. They never get old!

In reply to <a href="https://livingwithscleroderma.com/the-white-glove-test/#comment-539">Pat Bizzell</a>.

Those gloves sound very elegant! When it comes to clothes, I should have lived in the '30s.

The good news is, in spite of a two-day business trip to Manhattan this week, I am without bandages today! Still have to be very careful, but it sure is nice. Typing with my finger cots on right now. I also picked up some hand lotion with paraffin from Bath & Body Works, which is slippery to wear during the day but does a good job of healing. Best so far is Eucerin's extra intensive hand cream.

This further glimpse into your struggles with scleroderma breaks my heart, but I hope others with the disease see this post, since you seem to have hit on some wonderful strategies for coping with terrible problems.

On a lighter note, I too remember the days when getting dressed up meant donning gloves. Does anyone else remember the elbow-length gloves worn with prom dresses? I might still have mine somewhere; very difficult to get on, they buttoned up with pearl buttons.

I also remember a shorty cotton glove regimen enforced by my mother--moisturizer applied first, then the gloves before sleep--not to heal terrible ulcers but just to give us nice lady hands. I should start doing that again. I don't have scleroderma, but my cuticles get dry and split once the weather turns very cold and the humidity in the house drops.
